Expanding on the successful technological wonder of the Quantum Class, Royal Caribbean’s Quantum Ultra Class ships deliver the same excitement with some new additions. New to this class is Sky Pad, offering thrills of a virtual reality bungee trampoline, loads of new dining and beverage spots and glow-in-the-dark laser tag. Tweaks were also made to elevate the onboard experience throughout the ship. The Radiance class offers several unique itineraries since, as smaller ships, they can visit some smaller cruise destinations that larger ships cannot. Each of the ships has at least one, and often several, additional specialty restaurants in addition to main restaurants and casual buffets. The line’s signature Chops Grille steakhouse and Italian eatery Giovanni’s Table are two of them.
A Class Apart – Innovative Design and Entertainment
At around 169,000 tons, though, they're still among the biggest ships at sea, with a significant number of venues. For the ultimate upscale experience at sea, upgrade to Royal Suite Class and wow your guests with a truly unforgettable voyage that exceeds all expectations. Choose Star Class to relax in the most spacious suites at sea and enjoy VIP status throughout the ship. Opt for Sky Class, and you and your guests will enjoy carefully crafted adventures planned by a Royal Concierge as well as priority reservations for the hottest onboard activities. Like all Royal Caribbean ships, there is a rock climbing wall on each Vision Class cruise ship. This is a complimentary activity open to guests at select times throughout the sailing.
Enchantment of the Seas
Oasis class ships are an excellent option for cruisers who love amenities and view the ship as part of the destination. With so much to do and great design, they appeal to a wide segment, including adults and families with kids. There are also numerous cabin options among these ships, everything from cozy interior cabins to the Ultimate Family Suite. At around 139,000 tons, the ships are about 11% smaller than the Freedom-class ships. There are also some variations in attractions among the five Voyager-class vessels.
Royal Caribbean Ship Classes Comparison
There are 8 neighborhoods dividing up the ship, including returning favourites like Central Park and Royal Promenade, along with 5 new ones. The Aquadome is host to the new enhanced AquaTheatre, while Thrill Island hosts six record-breaking waterslides. Then, between 2018 and 2020, some of the ships were ‘Amped’, which means that they had a thorough refurbishment and lots of extra facilities added.
As Sky Class guests, you have access to a Concierge who crafts your personal adventures, from restaurant reservations to recommendations for shopping or dining at ports of call. Their smaller stature lets them dock at ports that remain elusive to their larger counterparts, offering a plethora of unique itineraries. Despite being the oldest and the smallest, these ships harbor a vintage charm that promises a return to the classic cruise experience.

Even though all Royal Caribbean cruise ships are distinctly Royal Caribbean in branding and design, they can feel quite different from one another when comparing the ships side by side. A year ago last August, I embarked my first Royal Caribbean cruise on Mariner of the Seas. Since then, I’ve spent 67 nights on 12 Royal Caribbean cruise ships, traveled to 25 different ports, accumulated 141 Crown & Anchor Society points, and made countless memories around the world. Each ship in the class was built around the same time and from the outside certainly looks similar. Within each ship class, there can be variations of features, restaurants, or activities that have been added or modified over the years. While there may be three, four, or more ships within a particular class, the exact onboard activities can vary.
All about Vision Class cruise ships
The over-the-top megaresort experience on a Royal Caribbean ship varies from class to class, though. Those looking for more adventurous itineraries are sure to love the Vision Class, too. From Egypt to Panama, Costa Rica, and Colombia, you’ll be able to tick more countries off your list with a Vision Class ship.
Planning a Barcelona Vacation From the Sea
While no longer the focus at Royal Caribbean, the smaller ships (which are generally the line's older ships) allow it to offer itineraries to places that aren't as easy for big ships to visit. Not all ports in the world can handle a ship the size of Icon of the Seas. The line's one Icon Class and five Oasis Class ships are unlike anything else you'll find at sea when it comes to size, amenities and capacity. Even if you're a newcomer to cruising, you've probably heard of Royal Caribbean's giant Icon Class and Oasis Class ships.

Our Interior staterooms include a wide array of amenities for your whole family to enjoy.
The only ships without Flowriders are the oldest Vision-class and Radiance-class ships. There are no FlowRiders on Grandeur of the Seas, Rhapsody of the Seas, Enchantment of the Seas, Vision of the Seas, Radiance of the Seas, Brilliance of the Seas, Serenade of the Seas or Jewel of the Seas. You’ll find the Merry-Go-Round carousel on Royal Caribbean’s Icon-class and Oasis-class ships. Bumper cars or ‘dodgems’ can be found only on Royal Caribbean’s Quantum and Quantum Ultra-class ships. So that’s Odyssey of the Seas, Spectrum of the Seas, Ovation of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas and Quantum of the Seas. Vision Class ships are also sometimes based in secondary ports such as Baltimore or San Juan, Puerto Rico, where the size of the local cruise market might not warrant a larger vessel.
With the exception of a single MSC Cruises vessel, they're far bigger than any other cruise vessel afloat and like nothing else you'll find at sea. Shorter cruises are also common on Vision Class ships, including 4 and 5-night Caribbean and European cruises. Vision Class ships, like Radiance Class ships, were constructed with plenty of glass. This leads to panoramic views of the ocean or port through large windows and glass walls around the ship. The Vision Class did not follow the same naming pattern found in the rest of Royal Caribbean’s fleet.
In their interiors, Freedom Class vessels have the mall-like Royal Promenade spaces filled with eateries, bars and shops that have become standard on bigger Royal Caribbean ships. Each Radiance Class ship holds more than 2,100 passengers at double occupancy (plus a few hundred more with every berth filled). That's less than half the number of passengers on the biggest Royal Caribbean ships. The good news for those of you worried about excessive crowds is that, as is the case with the Icon Class ships, the Oasis Class ships don't necessarily feel as crowded as they are.
No matter which 7-day cruise to Europe you end up booking, here's how to plan a European vacation that's high on adventure with low added stress. As you browse cruises, the first question you ask will be "Where are cruise ports near me?" Here's how to choose a port, and what to do once you're there. Families can look to budget cruises for affordable summer vacations that appeal to kids and adults alike.
Royal Caribbean's Oasis-class ships are huge, but themed neighborhoods help make them more manageable. Those include Entertainment Place, Central Park, Youth Zone and the Boardwalk, among others. The design is meant to prevent crowding and keep passengers busy all day long. I tend to spend more time relaxing without a plan onboard rather than trying to experience as many attractions as possible. While endless activities and entertainment options are certainly appreciated, I will enjoy a cruise equally with or without these activities. The smallest and oldest ships in the Royal Caribbean fleet, Vision-class ships shouldn’t be overlooked.

Visit the crystal caves in Spain as you take a travel vacation to uncover a view of the magnificent Pulpí Geode. Take a moment to make the most of your Greek island hopping travels, reveal the best places to visit in Greece. A Norway vacation will help you take in all the wild north has to offer.
That being said, I’ve really enjoyed my time on Voyager Class ships, and it’s one of my favorite ship classes. Radiance Class ships do not skimp on things to do, offering varied dining experiences, as well as terrific live entertainment. Veteran cruisers enjoy the Radiance Class for the ship's refined offering and easy going atmosphere. Just like the larger Freedom Class ships, Voyager Class vessels are a terrific value, and offer some incredible itineraries. Royal Caribbean is not done investing in these ships, having added new restaurants, surf simulators, aqua parks, entertainment and more over the last few years.
